Harry
began playing guitar at the age of 13. As a typical teenager, his interest
was in rock and roll. At 16, he was playing with his first "garage band",
and by 19, Harry was performing at various clubs on Oahu with the band,
"Sleeper".
He enrolled at University of Hawaii to study classical guitar. Before he finished his degree, Harry received an invitation that he couldn't resist... to join a rock group called "Bad Boys" and travel to California. After 3 1/2 years, Harry returned home to his beautiful Hawaii. He continued to play in bands but also began a new profession -- teaching guitar.
In 1991, Harry began learning the traditional
Hawaiian 'slack-key' guitar from master, Raymond
Kane. Learning this style of guitar playing gave Harry a passion for Hawaiian
music. In 1997, Harry
began lesson with Jerry Byrd on steel guitar.
Harry strives to keep alive the influences and memories of his teachers by perpetuating their music in performance and by teaching their songs to his guitar students.
